Need an Afternoon Pick Me Up? Try one of these Adaptogenic Lattes.

While there’s no end of conflicting information about whether or not coffee is good for your health, it’s safe to say that too much coffee isn’t beneficial for anyone.

 

When you’re in need of an afternoon pick me up, skip the second cup of coffee and opt for one of these delicious adaptogenic lattes.

 

Keep in mind, great food (and drinks) start with well-sourced, organic ingredients. Do your research and read labels before you head to the checkout line and invest your money. Herbs and spices should be organic, and try to make your nut milk from scratch whenever possible. I use a simple recipe for almond milk by Elana’s Pantry. If time doesn’t allow for homemade nut milk, MALK is a delicious brand of nut milk with straightforward ingredients that don’t include additives and binders.

 

Matcha Latte with Maca

 

14 oz of hot water (bring to a boil and let sit for 2-3 minutes)

2 tbsp nut milk
1/2 tbsp brain octane oil
1 tsp ghee

1 tbsp coconut butter
1-3 tsp matcha powder (start with less, add more to taste)
1 tsp maca
1 scoop of collagen peptides

 

Directions:

Add ingredients to blender and blend on high until mixed and frothy.

 

Golden Milk Latte with Ashwagandha

16 oz warm nut milk
2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla
⅛ tsp black pepper
1 tsp ghee
1/2 tsp ashwagandha
sweetener options: raw honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar

 

Directions:

  1. Warm nut milk on the stove
  2. Add the ingredients to blender with warm milk
  3. Blend on high until mixed and frothy.

 

Dandelion Butter “Coffee”

1 tsp roasted dandelion root
1 tsp roasted chicory root
16 oz boiling water
1/2 tbsp brain octane oil
1 tsp ghee

½ tsp astragalus

1 scoop of collagen peptides

 

sweetener options: raw honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar


Directions:

  1. Place water, dandelion root, and chicory root in a saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Pour “coffee” into blender through a fine mesh strainer.
  4. Add remaining ingredients and blend on high until mixed and frothy.
