What does an acupuncture session look like?

If this is your first acupuncture session, we are here to assist you every step of the way and ensure that you feel comfortable and confident throughout the process. Your practitioner will insert small, sterile, single-use needles into specific acupuncture points. These needles will stay in place for around 30 to 45 minutes while you relax and rest. It’s common for many patients to fall asleep or enter into a meditative state during their session.

At the end of your acupuncture session, your practitioner will remove the needles and answer any questions you may have. Before leaving, your practitioner will provide you with a treatment plan and suggestions for improving your lifestyle.

Diagnosis

Diagnosis is done based on tongue and pulse observation, and inquiry according to Chinese Medicine principles.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture points are selected along the meridian lines based on the diagnosis and single use sterile needles are inserted.

RElax

Needles are left in for 30-45 minutes to experience the full affect of Qi circulating in the body to restore balance.

Chinese Medicine is Energy Medicine

Acupuncture is a form of energy medicine with roots in ancient shamanistic practices. The human body has over 500 acupuncture points that are interconnected by energetic  pathways or meridians.  These pathways create flow of energy called “Qi” (pronounced “chee”) that is responsable for overall health.  Any disruption of the energy flow can lead to disease.  By applying acupuncture to specific points on the body, the flow of Qi can enhance your overall performance.

Ancient Wisdom

When the five yin and six yang organs are diseased, it is like there is a thorn, a piece of dirt, a know, or a blockage.  Although the thorn my be long-standing, it can be removed.  Although the knot may long-standing it can be untied.  Althogh the blockage may be long-standing it can be opened.  Those who say that old diseases cannot be taken up speak wrongly.  Those who use needles should look for the cause of disease.  Then the thorn can be removed, the dirt wiped away, the knot untied, and the blockage opened up.  Even though a disease is long-standing , it can be stopped.  those who say these conditions cannot be treated have not yet realized their skill.
